LED high bay lights can be classified into general lighting high bay and task lighting high, mainly based on their illumination functions.
Generally speaking, lighting fixtures are usually evenly installed over the workplace's ceiling or side walls, employing incandescent lamps, halogen lamps, high-intensity gas-discharge lamps, or a large number of high-power fluorescent lamps to illuminate the entire work surface. Most industrial lights fall into this category. General lighting fixtures have higher requirements for light distribution, which includes direct and semi-direct types, with the latter being more widely used. In the semi-direct type, a portion of the light directed upwards illuminates the ceiling, enhancing the brightness of the ceiling and creating a more comfortable and brighter environment.
Task lighting is a type of lamp that can improve the illuminance of a particular workplace. Its function can be to strengthen and supplement the general illumination or to serve as temporary lighting in places that do not usually require illumination (e.g., for equipment inspection and maintenance). Most of these lamps do not have strict requirements for light distribution. Task lights are generally installed near the work area, employing safe extra-low voltage (≤50V, AC RMS) incandescent lamps and halogen lamps as light sources. This includes (portable) inspection lamps, pendant lamps, work lamps, and machine tool lights. In some large factories, floodlights are sometimes used for task lighting.
Based on the light source, high bay lights can be divided into traditional light source (such as sodium lamps, mercury lamps, etc.) and LED high bay lights. Compared to traditional high bay lights, LED high bay lights have significant advantages:
High Color Rendering Index (CRI) of LED LED high bay lights: 70
High luminous efficacy of LED high bay lights, more energy-efficient. For example, a 100W LED industrial light can replace a traditional 250W industrial light.
The drawback of traditional light sources is the high lamp temperature, which can reach up to 200-300 degrees Celsius. LEDs are cold light sources with a lower lamp temperature, making them safer.
With continuous innovation in LED industrial lighting the latest fin-type heatsink LED high bay lights have a more reasonable heatsink design, significantly reducing the weight of the lamp. This design brings down the overall weight of an 80W LED industrial lamp to below 4KG, perfectly solving the heat dissipation issue for 80-300W LED LED high bay lights.
